Mineral class meaning: According to Gienger, oxides have a transformative effect, and will convert unstable states into stable ones. The energy bound up in this transformation is released and can be used. Oxides also advance all unfinished things in our lives that would otherwise be constantly draining away energy.

Mineralogy: It is formed in passages or hydrothermally in druses and clefts out of pure, silic acid solution with no foreign substances contained in it.

Used for:

Clear quartz is the most powerful amplifier, and the only stone that can be programmed, whereby other stones can be dedicated.

Native American Indians state that clear quartz is most adaptable to the human being, and use this stone for protection (placed on the solar plexus). They also use clear quartz crystals to heal tears and imbalances in the electromagnetic field.

Danburite fact file

Crystal system: Rhombic, Primary

Mineral class: (Calcium Boron) lattice silicate

Colour: clear, white or pink, yellow or brown

Mineral class meaning: According to Gienger, phosphates have a balancing effect and can mobilise energy reserves. The buffering effect of phosphates helps to preserve neutrality in our bodily fluids, thereby promoting stability in terms of health and a balance of mood.

In addition, when phosphates are deposited in our bodies in the form of certain organic compounds, their energy levels are raised; when these phosphate compounds are broken down, energy is released. Phosphate carriers in our cells. Energy turnover is increased through the use of phosphates and this makes us awake, lively, active and ready for action.

Mineralogy: It is usually colourless, like quartz, but can be also either pale yellow, yellowish-brown, or pink. It typically occurs in contact metamorphic rocks. It is named for Danbury, Connecticut, United States where it was first discovered in 1839 by Charles Upham Shephard

Garnet fact file

Crystal system: Cubic, Tertiary

Mineral class: Island silicate

Colour: Red, pink, orange, yellow, green brown to black

Mineral class meaning: Island silicates strengthen resistance and the desire to structure one's life according to one's own wishes. The individual island silicatse represent individuality, the path one can travel alone.

Island siliccatse also fortify one's health and are helpers in crises and emergencies so we are able to remain true to our convictions, even when under great stress.

Mineralogy: Garnet is a mineral group that consists of a number of different representatives. They are so different in their chemical make-up that a number of mineralogists are of the opinion that the individual varieties should be looked upon as completely different minerals.

However, all garnets belong in the cubic crystal system and have a similar type of formation.

Mineral class meaning: According to Gienger, oxides have a transformative effect, and will convert unstable states into stable ones. The energy bound up in this transformation is released and can be used. Oxides also advance all unfinished things in our lives that would otherwise be constantly draining away energy.

Mineralogy: Hematite can be formed in a number of ways; ignaciously formed hydrothermally out of solutions when it forms small crystals, or the "kidney growth". In the sedimentary process, it forms red weathering crusts in the oxidation zone of iron ore deposits. In the metamorphic process, it forms massive hematite deposits through loss of water in limonite sediments.

Iolite

Crystal system: Orthorhombic, tertiary

Mineral class: Aluminium Ring silicate

Colour: Shades of green to light blue

Mineral class meaning:

Ring silicates with a pillar structure conduct and direct energy flows that have a stimulating effect.

Mineralogy: Iolite (also known as Cordierite) is formed.

The name "iolite" comes from the Greek word for violet. Another old name is dichroite, a Greek word meaning "two-colour rock", a reference to cordierite's strong pleochroism.

Kunzite fact file

Crystal system: Monoclinic, primary

Mineral class: Chain Silicate, pyroxene group, Spodumene family

Colour: white pink/lilac, green

Mineral class meaning:

Chain silicates stimulate energy flows in us and increase the speed of healing and developmental processes. Kunzite takes out from the body and doesn't replace it with minerals like other stones.

Mineralogy: Kunzite is a variety of spodumene. It is formed in pegmatites exclusively out of acid, magmatic solutions containing lithium. There is also a green coloured version of Kunzite which is called Hiddenite. This is one of the few stones that take away from the body rather than omitting minerals into the body.

Mineralogy: Labradorite is feldspar (plagioclase) formed in pegmatites and alkaline igneous rocks. It obtains its iridescent colours from a fine laminate structure which bends incoming light.

Lapis Lazuli

Crystal system: Cubic, tertiary

Mineral class: Lattice silicate lasurite rock (Lasurite)

Colour: deep blue

Mineral class meaning:

Lattice silicates filter affects that will absorb certain things and

reflect others.

Mineralogy: Lapis lazuli is formed during metamorphosis of chalk into marble. Where iron is present, gold-coloured pyrite inclusions will occur.

Larimar

Crystal system: Triclinic, primary

Mineral class: Chain silicate (Blue pectolite) containing copper

Colour: light blue, white

Mineral class meaning:

Chain silicates conduct and direct energy flows and has a strong absorbing effect; especially when energy flows are blocked or if there is a general lack of energy.

Mineralogy: Larimar is a light blue pectolite. It is formed hydrothermically in clefts of alkaline volcanic rock (sometimes called dolphin stone).

Mineralogy: Lepidolite is a mica containing lithium. It is formed in the primary process in pegmatite’s or in pneumolytically transformed granites (gneiss).

Moldavite fact file

Crystal system: Amorphous, tertiary

Mineral class: Oxide, (glass formed by meteorite impact)

Colour: Bottle green

Mineral class meaning:

Oxides have a transformative effect. They convert unstable states into stable ones.

Mineralogy: Moldavite was formed about 15 million years after the impact of a giant meteorite in present day Nordlinger Ries (Bavaria). Splatters of rocks that were melted by the impact were propelled over a radius of about 250 miles. These cooled while they were airborne and many fell to the ground in the general area of the present day Moldavia. Moldavite is now found along the banks of the river Moldau.

Moonstone fact file

Crystal system: Monoclinic, Primary

Mineral class: potassium aluminium lattice silicate, feldspar family

Colour: white, brownish with light or a bluish shimmer

Mineral class meaning: Lattice silicates have a filtering effect that will absorb certain things and reflect others. In particular they will help change in our perception, and see the world with new eyes and also help us broaden our horizons.

Potassium improves solubility of all compounds in body fluids and influences metabolic processes. Helps us to free us from fears, melancholy, depression or a feeling of failure. Promotes contentment and improves perceptions.

Aluminium supports the absorption of iron and helps with symptoms of weakness. It has a calming effect and encourages releasing behavioural patterns and stimulates a desire of change. It can help with a loss of identity, and encourages a sense of reality.

Mineralogy: Moonstone is potassium feldspar (orthoclase) whose inner laminate structure bends light. In the polished stone, this leads to a white to blue-ish shimmering light.

Morganite

Crystal system: Hexagonal, Primary

Mineral class: Ring silicate, Beryl containing manganese and lithium.

Colour: Pink

Mineral class meaning:

Ring silicates’ conduct and direct energy flows and have a strong absorbing effect. They are excellent when energy flows are blocked or there is a general lack of energy.

Beryllium helps with allergies, eczema and ulcers, rheumatic complains and hormonal problems. It also encourages a far-seeing perspective, clear perception and concentration. Finally it helps create goals and encourages discipline and consistency in attaining these goals.

Manganese has a pain reliving effect and fortifies the body’s own defences. Fertility is increased and influences the heart and heart functions. It stimulates growth, promotes fat metabolism and lowers blood sugar levels. Encourages empathy, sometimes sensitivity. It brings out the warmth of the heart and generosity, and allows psychological wounds and injuries to heal. Finally it promotes understanding of our own reality and the reality of our environment. Mineralogy: Morganite is a type of beryl that has been coloured pink by lithium and manganese. It is formed in pegmatites whenever the magmatic solution is sufficiently enriched with beryllium and lithium.

Morganite is a fantastic stone to meditate with, especially placed in the heart chakra. Spending time in a Morganite stone circle will alleviate stress quickly, and is perfect for wearing over long periods of time. 

Obsidian fact file

Crystal system: Amorphous, Primary

Mineral class: Volcanic glass, silicon dioxide

Colour: black, brown, silvery or iridescent

Mineral class meaning:

Silicon fortifies the skin, hair and nails and roughens connective tissues and bones. Fortifies the immune reactions in the blood and body fluids and encourages the activity of the lymph nodes, spleen and lungs. Helpful with a tendency to persistent colds.

Has anti-inflammatory effect. Enhances sensory organs. Makes us warm hearted and generous. Works against fearfulness, oversensitivity and exhaustion. Gives us inner stability, security and determination. Helps us to let go of fixed ideas and to open ourselves to inspiration and new impulses. Finally it helps us to be alert and to be ready to react to all situations.

Mineralogy: Obsidian is formed volcanically when lava rich in silic acid cools rapidly. The lava hardens so quickly that no crystalline structures are able to form (‘temperature shock’). The result is an amorphous, solified molten mass, containing large amounts of minerals, water and gas inclusions. Transparent obsidian can only form out of lava that is very poor in foreign substances (Apache Tears).

Obsidian may contain a shimmer through finely distributed gas bubbles or iridescence through trapped water bubbles and is then called silver obsidian or rainbow obsidian.

Whousl obsidian occasionally begin to crystallise after all, you will find small inclusions of grey feldspar; this results in the formation of snowflake obsidian. The crystallisation process may continue until the obsidian has been transformed completely into feldspar.

High iron content will sometimes result in brown patches - called mahogany obsidian.

Mineral class: Manganese carbonate

Colour: Pink to red

Mineral class meaning:

Carbonates influence developmental processes and can stimulate new developments and highlights permanent change.

Manganese

Mineralogy: Rhodacrosite is formed in the sedimentary manner of the oxidation zone of manganese ore deposits. Water containing manganese and carbonic acid collects in hollows and cysts in the rock in the form of rose coloured Rhodochrosite stalagmites or fills cracks.
