AMETHYST 

These are the first two Amethyst pieces I bought in Global Tribe Crystal shop

These crystals that began it all for me and helped carry me through my journey. The crystal of new beginnings, helping you discard the old you and allow you to realise your potential and dreams. As I said in my introduction this is the first crystal I bought on my journey and I don’t use it nearly enough. I take it for granted, it’s there for me and I shouldn’t. Everyday is a new beginning for all of us. After we wake up we have a decision to make, do we wish our dreams to come true or do we make them happen. The day this crystal came into my life, I took it home and straight away fell in love with it. I remember the moment so clearly sat on the bed gazing inside it lost in my own little world. It was just me and the amethyst happy in our own space, getting to know one another. This was the first time I had studied a crystal so closely and fell in love with one. I was like a child again, taken back to my youth when I collected crystals and rocks but now I understood why.

As I looked inside my new friend I saw it had many natural flaws, a lot like myself I must add. But rather than detract from its attractiveness, I emphasized its rainbows of colours, shapes, images and so much wealth of beauty. It gave me a new way of looking at my flaws and to start accepting myself for who I am.

I’m a Piscean and this is the birthstone for Pisces. There is something quite special about Amethyst for me, just having it near me is enough to bring subtle changes into my life. My eyes are always drawn to this crystal, like a reminder it’s watching out for me. I find myself sometimes picking Amethyst up for a while and feeling its love as I hold it. I can be sitting reading, watching television or just relaxing. Twiddling it around in my fingers and feeling a gentle peace wash over me. Often I find myself wanting to do more. I end up writing, painting or taking a moment to meditate. It makes me question life and how to bring changes into mine to improve it. Amethyst is allowing me to see the beauty in this world and it’s wonderful.

About two years ago I broke up from a relationship I was in. In the past I used to be down for months. Always thinking what went wrong and why? For the first time in my life I looked at the positive to come from that relationship and moved on. I took everything good from it and the main thing was the start of my new way of life. Three months later I gave up smoking and drinking alcohol. Four months after that I became vegetarian. In October 2007 I met a beautiful girl called Sarah who I still share my life with now. That same month I took my meditation to the next level and that next week found me on holiday in Kenya. It was first time that I had been on holiday on my own and it was wonderful. The animals roaming free and the miles of open space was something I will never forget. These are all things, twelve months before, I wouldn’t have thought possible. This all started with the first crystal I picked up, the beautiful Amethyst crystal.

Amethyst is a truly inspiring stone allowing the inner you to come out into the world. Dreams start to happen and become reality. Since I have become true to myself I have become a much stronger person. I used to be easily led and some of my friends couldn’t allow me to be myself. I have let some friends go completely, others I don’t see as much but know they will always be there for me, as I will be for them. It’s been a fresh start for me when I first picked up that piece of Amethyst that kick started my new life. My world is now filled with new friends all on journeys like mine and who love me for me. They don’t feel threatened by who I am or by what I want from life. Every time I see them I’m greeted by a huge smile and a hug full of warmth. I feel truly blessed. I don’t think I have ever been so fulfilled as I’m feeling now.

By sharing my experiences with you as I write about each crystal like Amethyst, I’m trying to break from the normal way crystal books are written. Most are just full of facts and feel cold which isn’t what crystals are about. Each crystal has something to give us and knows when the time is right to come into our lives. Each time we hold a crystal it unlocks something hidden deep inside. Sometimes the truth about ourselves hurts and is hard to deal with. It is worth the pain to come out the other side happy about we are. At the beginning I was lost and confused about myself, but once I admitted to myself I wasn’t being true to me, the tools came into my life to help. Each crystal has the ability to help you through life. It is important to work with different types of crystals to help you at different times of your life.

With life being such a rush remember to take time for you. Take a moment whenever you can and enjoy it. There is so much beauty out there you just need to look. When I feel stressed when out in the crowds in Leeds, I always take a moment and enter my favourite shop, Global Tribe Crystals, and enjoy the crystals and peace that it’s full of. That’s one of my special moments and I’m sure you have some of your own so enjoy.

Amethyst has helped bring me to this point in my life and is a crystal that always will have a place in my heart. I’m now on a path where I don’t know where the next turn in life will take me. So far every turn has brought me something new and fulfilling.
